So, this may come as a shock to those of you who know me well, but I've started running. Well, I don't know if others would refer to it as running. It's more like the motions of running, but really, really slow. Slower than jogging probably. But I'm doing it. And almost every day. So I'm pretty psyched. Scott got me a sweet new pair of shoes for my birthday. My running coach (Anna from work--thanks so much!) suggested them. She's been coaching a group of us on Fridays. It's been pretty fun and something that I never thought I would do. But turning 45 and being really out of shape has changed my attitude.
Actually, my attitude changed on January 1, when I committed to getting healthier for this herd of kiddos. My mom got me a great book for Christmas called Younger Next Year for Women by Chris Crowley and Dr. Harry Lodge. Have you read it? Well, if you are in your 30s, 40s or even 50s, you should. It's a life changer. It was for me anyway. A super great read and so full of great information. There's a men's version too. Highly recommend.
I have been having fun with the exercise, and started weight training about 6 weeks ago, along with the running/jogging. A couple times of week I'm meeting my friend Sandra at work and we hit the treadmills at 7am. The company we work for has an awesome gym and women's locker room, so we can shower and be at desks by around 8am. It's been pretty fun. And the 30lbs I've lost since the beginning of the year is pretty cool too. Lots more to go, but one super slow run at a time.
