Summer vacation? My husband is going to need one soon...

Why, when there are nearly 12 weeks of summer, did I schedule all the activities for Week 1? Seriously. As we sat down to a mighty late Father's Day Dinner (9:30pm!) I realized that my Outlook calendar I had so carefully created 2 weeks previous was not going to cut it. Not only that, it was making things way more confusing. What we needed was a true itinerary, complete with passenger lists, departure and arrival times. So at 11:30pm last night I opened up Excel and got busy. And you know what? I actually enjoyed it. That's how you know deep down you're meant to parent 12 kids. Because the constant chaos and conflict is a challenge I truly love. Not that I don't get exhausted every now and then, but dang, that Excel spreadsheet was deeply gratifying. I was quite proud of myself, so I wanted to share...(click to enlarge)

And Scott deserves a big round of applause! Man, he rocked it today. He totally rallied when I forgot to buy the baseball snacks. In between all the running around he darted into Costco with four kids in tow, picked up the snacks AND had an iced up cooler waiting in the car for the juice packs. Wowee! I was impressed. We make a pretty good team...I feel pretty guilty that I was surrounded by adults all day in a peaceful office environment.

And Emma was wicked awesome to boot. She ran the household, making lunches and keeping things organized at home. She even got dinner started. That girl needs a raise! Oh, wait, she gets to drive the Prius, so I guess we're even. Ha ha. So glad Week 2 is waaaay less hectic.
