We celebrated with her extended family--her birth brothers and sisters, who gathered at our house for a hot dog BBQ and a big water slide. The kids all had a blast and it was great to catch up with our "in-laws". I'm not sure what else to call all these people, as they are more than friends. We really are all family.
We've been fortunate that each of her siblings has been adopted by families support of ongoing contact and relationship building. This weekend, we welcomed the newest family into our group. I'm sure it was overwhelming for them, but it was good to see all the kids together.
As typical, I was too unorganized to take pictures, but over the years, I've gotten especially lazy about this because my good friend and "sister in-law" brings her camera and takes great pics. So thanks Susie!
It's always a hectic day and our yard and house gets all primped for the occasion, but I feel fortunate to know so many great families. So thanks to all of you for coming and sharing the day with us.
