Dog of the Year!!

Congratulations to Burt (aka Burts as in Poots 'n Burts), our Dallas rescue boy! After all the ballots were in, Burt ranked the highest across the categories of looks, personality and behaviors, proving that rescues make great pets. Previous to joining our family, Burt was roaming the streets of Dallas, where he ended up in a kill shelter. With his days ticking away, he came to Spokane as part of a partnership with Spokanimal Care. Lucky for us, I needed dog food the day he was at Petco. He's still a shy boy, and does lift his leg indoors more than we would like (we would prefer never).

Abby (aka Abby Dabbers, The Dabbler, Dabba Doo), our former pregnant foster momma, came in with a strong second place. Abby became a permanent part of our family just yesterday when her placement didn't work out. I was secretly glad because I love her so much! All her puppies have been placed in great homes, and I have no doubt that Abby will be fighting for first place next year.

The Pooter (aka Poot, Poots, Spike) came in third which is really no surprise considering all the boys voted this year. He's a super fat brick, baby hippo, but we really love him.

I'm sure Bea was in last place because she loves me the best and all the kids are super jealous. It's so obvious! I don't care. She's always #1 in my book.
